Hello Grace Family! As many of you are well aware at this point there have been ever increasing closings and cancellations that are occurring throughout our nation due to the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). And so first of all we just wanted to give a word of encouragement: God is still on the throne. He is in control and our days are numbered by Him!
Psalm 91 says, “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’ For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.”
And so as believers in Jesus, we do not need to live in a spirit of fear. For we have been assured by Scripture that the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead also lives in us! And so ultimately, we await the day where Christ will return and there will be no more sickness or pain.
In the meantime, however, we do not think that faith and wisdom need to be separated. And so our leadership has been prayerfully monitoring the coronavirus situation in our country over the last few days. And due to strong recommendations by our government not to gather in groups larger than 250, and in order to care for our community by attempting to prevent rapid spreading (many of whom are at a higher risk in contracting serious illness from COVID-19), the leadership at Grace has decided to cancel our physical gathering this Sunday, March 15th.
However, we do plan on setting up a live stream discussion which will be streamed through our church Facebook page and we would encourage you all to tune in this Sunday at 10:30am where we can gather together in Spirit (and via technology!). We will spend that time reflecting on various scriptures as well as giving opportunities for you to discuss various things with one another and to pray for our country/world.
Future Sunday gatherings will be decided and announced upon continued monitoring of the situation over the coming weeks. Our other regular gatherings throughout the week will still proceed as normal as of right now and we will let you know if any of that changes.
You can still give online this Sunday by clicking here or if you’d rather drop your offering off at some point throughout the week, the church will be open and you can do so at the church office.
We also see this as a great opportunity to be the Body of Christ and so we encourage everyone of you to serve and love on our community through this crisis. Look for opportunities to share the Christian hope with others who may be struggling during this time and point them to the one who knows the future and who holds all things in His hands!
