UPDATES DURING COVID-19

Awana Update:

On September 16th, our JV group (7th and 8th graders) will begin their club year by meeting from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the church.   We believe without the younger clubbers in the church, the JVers will be able to social distance and follow proper Covid procedures to keep everyone safe.

On September 16th we will have leaders in the church lobby to distribute Awana books for all clubbers and accept payments for those books.  The Cubbies, Sparks and T & T groups will meet virtually until we open those clubs up.

Clubbers will be contacted by leaders assigned to them to say their sections.  We will also be available on Wednesdays, if a clubber would like to come to the church starting September 23rd between 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. to say their sections.  No awards will be handed out at this time. We will hand out awards once we open club back up which we hope will be soon.  We still have the future date of November 4th as a projected date to open if all is good and if we have enough leaders.  We will continue to monitor and look to see if we can open some additional clubs before this date.  It will be at least two weeks out before we do an evaluation of this Covid situation.

Hey Grace family! We continue to think through and tweak how we are handling this complex Covid situation. Our Covid 19 Preparedness Plan remains unchanged, but we are adding this sign to the doors to clarify what kind of interactions you can expect with us regarding masks, etc. See you Sunday! “Due to the new mandate, you are required to wear a mask in this building. If you don’t we’ll assume you have a legitimate reason not to wear it and we will not violate your privacy. If you need a mask we can supply you with one. All are welcome!”

Please note the new guideline which applies to places of worship.

"Masks and face coverings: As of July 25, 2020, people in Minnesota are required to wear a face covering in all public indoor spaces and businesses, per Executive Order 20-81. Additionally, the Executive Order requires workers to wear a face covering when working outdoors in situations where social distancing cannot be maintained. The Executive Order includes exemptions for people who are unable to wear or tolerate a face covering due to medical or mental health conditions or other reasons. There are also situations in which a face covering may be temporarily removed, such as when eating or drinking, provided that social distancing is maintained between members of different parties. Businesses and venues may choose to have more protective requirements than those in the Executive Order."

This applies to all persons over the age of 5.

We are very sad to report that due to regulatory issues in connection with COVID-19 we will be unable to hold our summer youth camps this year. I have attached a newsletter that gives further details. Would you please print a copy and post it where interested people would be able to read it? Thank you. In addition, we would appreciate it if you would add the announcement below to your bulletin or other communications you are sending to your people during this scrambled time. Again, thanks.

Miracle Bible Camp is cancelling all youth camps this June and July in connection with COVID-19 requirements. More information, including instructions regarding deposits, is available at miraclebible.com or on the camp's Facebook page. Please keep your camp in your prayers!

Your friendship and partnership is especially appreciated right now. Blessings!

Sunday, March 15th's Live Feed Discussion

March 14th Update:

Hello Grace Family! As many of you are well aware at this point there have been ever increasing closings and cancellations that are occurring throughout our nation due to the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). And so first of all we just wanted to give a word of encouragement: God is still on the throne. He is in control and our days are numbered by Him!

Psalm 91 says, “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’ For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.”

And so as believers in Jesus, we do not need to live in a spirit of fear. For we have been assured by Scripture that the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead also lives in us! And so ultimately, we await the day where Christ will return and there will be no more sickness or pain.

In the meantime, however, we do not think that faith and wisdom need to be separated. And so our leadership has been prayerfully monitoring the coronavirus situation in our country over the last few days. And due to strong recommendations by our government not to gather in groups larger than 250, and in order to care for our community by attempting to prevent rapid spreading (many of whom are at a higher risk in contracting serious illness from COVID-19), the leadership at Grace has decided to cancel our physical gathering this Sunday, March 15th.

However, we do plan on setting up a live stream discussion which will be streamed through our church Facebook page and we would encourage you all to tune in this Sunday at 10:30am where we can gather together in Spirit (and via technology!). We will spend that time reflecting on various scriptures as well as giving opportunities for you to discuss various things with one another and to pray for our country/world.

Future Sunday gatherings will be decided and announced upon continued monitoring of the situation over the coming weeks. Our other regular gatherings throughout the week will still proceed as normal as of right now and we will let you know if any of that changes.

You can still give online this Sunday by clicking here or if you’d rather drop your offering off at some point throughout the week, the church will be open and you can do so at the church office.

We also see this as a great opportunity to be the Body of Christ and so we encourage everyone of you to serve and love on our community through this crisis. Look for opportunities to share the Christian hope with others who may be struggling during this time and point them to the one who knows the future and who holds all things in His hands!
