Bill Benson

Bill and Betty Lou Benson have been attending Grace Bible Chapel for 47+ years.

Bill writes about their salvation. “Betty Lou and I were saved at Palisade Baptist Church in Silver Bay, Minnesota in 1958, while visiting my brother. We had no follow up, so we did not start attending a church until we moved to Grand Rapids in 1960, where I started working at Blandin Paper Company. There I met a college student named Charles Nelson. He answered a lot of questions I had and got me to attend the young couples ministry that was at Grace Bible Chapel. That got us started attending Grace Bible Chapel. From there, we became involved with the AWANA Program at Grace. I guess from there we just grew in the Lord to where we are today.”

Bill said he worked for 36 years at Blandin Paper Company before retiring. Betty Lou worked in Grace Christian School while their children attended there and as a home maker the rest of the time.

Bill and Betty Lou have four children. Bill Benson, Bob Benson, Susan Doell and Deb Overlee.

Bill’s favorite Bible verse is: Joshua 24:15b – “Choose you this day whom you will serve, but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Bill says, “I have learned over the last few years that when you belong to Jesus, you must be willing to surrender all of you, not just what you want to give Him.”
